Uppercase Raises $9 Million for Expansion
Mumbai-based sustainable luggage brand Uppercase has successfully raised $9 million in a Series B funding round led by Accel, bringing its total funding to approximately $18 million since its inception. The company aims to capitalize on the growing market by expanding its offline presence in India, planning to add 250 exclusive retail stores to achieve a revenue target of Rs 500 crore over the next three years. Founder Sudip Ghose emphasized the significance of Accel's investment in supporting their eco-friendly and made-in-India business model, aiming for a global footprint. Uppercase currently operates online and through 1,800 multi-brand stores, with a focus on developing a robust retail strategy. The company also plans to establish a manufacturing facility in Nashik by December to enhance its production capabilities. This funding round highlights investor confidence in the emerging consumer retail sector, particularly in sustainable brands.
