Five Arrested After Drownings at Delhi Coaching Centre

Delhi Police have arrested five additional individuals, including the driver of a vehicle that caused flooding in the basement of a coaching institute, leading to the drowning deaths of three civil service aspirants. The accused, comprising four co-owners of the Rau’s IAS Study Circle and the driver, have been sent to judicial custody until August 12. The driver’s counsel contended that he had no intention of causing harm, but the court denied his bail plea. Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar criticized the Delhi government's negligence, emphasizing that lack of timely action and inspections could have prevented this tragedy. The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety regulations of coaching centers, with authorities indicating that responsibility will be strictly enforced against those at fault. The total number of arrests in connection with the case now stands at seven, including earlier arrests of the owner and coordinator of the institute.
