Antisemiticidents in Czech Republic
A report from CST reveals that anti-Jewish hate incidents in the UK reached an unprecedented total of 1,978 in the first half of 2024, marking a 105% increase from the same period in 2023 and the highest January-to-June total ever recorded. This surge follows the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, reflecting ongoing tensions related to the Israel-Palestine conflict. In the Czech Republic, antisemitic incidents also spiked, with a 90% rise to 4,328 total incidents in 2023, predominantly online, following the same attack. Both reports highlight the significant impact of recent geopolitical events on antisemitic attitudes and actions. The Jewish community is encouraged to openly discuss these issues with younger generations to address their concerns and experiences surrounding antisemitism. Despite the rise in incidents, the Czech report noted that the country remains safe for Jews, with no physical attacks recorded in the past two years.
