Paris Olympics Unveils Purple Athletics Track

The athletics track at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be painted purple, a first for the Olympics, which has surprised many Australian athletes. Hurdler Michelle Jenneke expressed excitement upon learning about the unusual color, while middle-distance runner Peter Bol noted that regardless of the track's color, the race remains the same. Alain Blondel, the sports manager for athletics, explained that the creative choice aims to differentiate the Paris Games and highlight the athletes, with the design including shades of purple, blue, and green. The track, described as 'audacious' by its manufacturer, is also touted as the fastest Olympic track to date, featuring advanced shock-absorbing technology. This decision is part of a broader effort by the organizing committee to engage fans and generate interest in the upcoming events. The Games will officially open on July 26, 2024, with preliminary events starting on July 24.
