Officer Justin Lee Convicted in Capitol Riot

Justin Lee, a former Montgomery County Police officer, was convicted of assaulting police during the January 6 Capitol riot by throwing a smoke bomb and other objects at officers. U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden found Lee guilty of two felonies and three misdemeanors, citing video evidence and Lee's lack of credibility. Lee joined the Montgomery County Police Department six months after the riot, but his involvement in the riots was discovered only later, leading to his suspension and subsequent termination process. Despite Lee's claims of protesting police brutality, the judge concluded that his actions were aimed at aiding the rioters. Lee is scheduled for sentencing on November 22. The Montgomery County Police Department emphasized that Lee's actions do not reflect the entire department.
