Apple's App Store VP Matt Fischer to Depart

Apple is restructuring its App Store division in response to regulatory changes, particularly from the EU. Matt Fischer, who has led the App Store since 2010, will depart in October. The division will split into two teams: one overseeing the App Store and another handling alternative app distribution. Carson Oliver will lead the App Store team, while Ann Thai will manage the alternative distribution team. This reorganization comes as Apple faces global scrutiny and regulatory demands to permit third-party payment methods and app stores. Phil Schiller will oversee both new divisions.
