Oregon State has officially named Gevani McCoy as the starting quarterback for their season opener against Idaho State. Head coach Trent Bray confirmed the decision during a press conference, noting that McCoy's performance in the final week of fall camp set him apart from competitors Ben Gulbranson and Gabarri Johnson. McCoy, who transferred from Idaho, had impressive statistics in his previous seasons, throwing for over 5,600 yards and scoring 43 touchdowns. Gulbranson will serve as the backup, while Johnson is listed third on the depth chart. The Beavers will kick off their season at Reser Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 PM, with the game airing on The CW.
