Vodafone Idea Q1 results
Vodafone Idea reported a smaller-than-expected consolidated loss of 64.32 billion rupees for Q1 FY25, down from 78.40 billion a year prior, aided by a 7% reduction in expenses. Despite a revenue drop of 1.4% to 105.08 billion rupees, which was below analysts' expectations, the company's average revenue per user (ARPU) grew 4.5% to 146 rupees. The telco's 4G subscriber base increased to 126.7 million, while total subscribers fell by 5.1% to 210.1 million. Vodafone Idea aims to enhance its 4G coverage by 16 million and expand data capacity by 15% by September 2024. The firm has also reduced its bank debt significantly and continues to focus on launching 5G services. Competitors Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio reported revenue increases, highlighting Vodafone Idea's ongoing challenges in the competitive telecom market.
