Deadly Landslides and Floods Hit China and Vietnam
Torrential rains and landslides have led to significant loss of life and property in China and Vietnam. In China's Hunan Province, heavy rainstorms resulted in at least 15 deaths, with a devastating landslide destroying a guesthouse and killing 12 people. Emergency personnel are actively involved in rescue operations, with more extreme weather expected. Similarly, in northern Vietnam, tropical storm Prapiroon caused flash floods and landslides, resulting in at least 10 deaths and 9 missing individuals, destroying nearly 30,000 hectares of crops, and killing thousands of livestock. Both countries have experienced a summer of extreme weather, exacerbated by climate change, with China also making strides in renewable energy development to combat this issue.
