Global Phishing Scam Targeting CrowdStrike Users

CrowdStrike experienced a global outage due to a faulty software update, leading to phishing scams targeting users by impersonating company employees or tech specialists for malicious gain. SingCERT and CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz warned of ongoing phishing campaigns exploiting the outage, with scammers posing as researchers or offering fake recovery solutions. SingCERT identified malicious domains used in the scam and advised system administrators to block connections to these domains. The outage caused disruptions across various sectors, including airlines experiencing flight cancellations and delays. SingCERT also provided mitigation steps for users affected by the global IT outage and blue screen of death errors on Windows hosts.
