A murder case has been filed against former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and several top officials following the police killing of grocery store owner Abu Sayed during protests on July 19. This marks the first legal action against Hasina since her resignation and subsequent flight to India on August 5, amid widespread protests regarding a controversial job quota system. The plaintiff, S.M. Amir Hamza, has reported receiving death threats shortly after filing the case, highlighting the tense political climate. An interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus has been established in the wake of Hasina's departure.
