Biden Announces New $125 Million Aid for Ukraine

The Biden administration is set to announce a new military aid package for Ukraine worth approximately $125 million, which includes air defense missiles, HIMARS munitions, Javelin anti-tank systems, and other military equipment. This announcement coincides with Ukraine's Independence Day and aims to support Ukraine amidst its ongoing war with Russia. U.S. officials noted that the aid is part of a broader strategy to understand and support Ukraine's military objectives following recent incursions into Russian territory near Kursk. As Russian forces advance towards the critical logistics area of Pokrovsk, U.S. officials are working closely with Ukrainian leaders to assess their long-term battlefield strategies. Since February 2022, total U.S. security assistance to Ukraine will reach about $55.7 billion with this new package. The weapons will be drawn from Pentagon stockpiles for expedited delivery to Ukraine.
