Riverbanks Zoo Mourns Beloved Lion Zuri

Riverbanks Zoo is mourning the loss of Zuri, a beloved 20-year-old male lion who passed away recently. Zuri, who arrived at the zoo in 2005 from Sedgwick County Zoo, fathered 13 cubs and played a significant role in the conservation of African lions. He was known for his mighty roars that marked the start of each day, becoming a cherished member of the zoo's family. Although the cause of death has not been specified, Zuri's age was beyond the life expectancy for lions in captivity, indicating the exceptional care he received. The zoo is planning to return lionesses Thabisa and Lindelani to their habitat soon to maintain the pride’s natural social dynamics.
