'Pop Star Academy' documentary
KATSEYE, a global girl group formed through a rigorous competition program, will be the focus of the upcoming Netflix docuseries 'Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE', premiering on August 21. The series follows 20 contestants from around the world as they undergo K-pop-style training and compete for a spot in the group, ultimately leading to the formation of six members from diverse countries including the US, South Korea, the Philippines, and Switzerland. Directed by Nadia Hallgren, the docuseries provides unprecedented access to the behind-the-scenes processes, including rehearsals and the elimination stages. The group has already achieved significant popularity with over one million monthly Spotify listeners and two singles released, including 'Touch'. The partnership between HYBE and Geffen Records aims to create the first globally recognized girl group modeled after K-pop methodologies. The series is expected to portray the intense pressures and aspirations of the contestants vying for stardom.
