Indrani Mukerjea's Travel Stay Until July 29

The Bombay High Court has temporarily stayed a special court's decision that allowed Indrani Mukerjea, accused of murdering her daughter Sheena Bora in 2012, to travel to Europe for ten days. This ad interim stay is effective until July 29, when the Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) plea against the travel permission will be heard. Justice S V Kotwal noted that the matter should be reviewed by the regular bench of Justice S C Chandak, who was unavailable at the time. The CBI argued that Mukerjea, being a prime suspect in an ongoing murder trial, should not be allowed to leave the country, fearing she might abscond. Mukerjea's defense mentioned she currently cannot travel as she does not have her passport. Mukerjea was released on bail by the Supreme Court in May 2022, under the condition she would not leave India without court permission.
