Sinner Cleared of Doping, Faces Criticism

World No. 1 tennis player Jannik Sinner tested positive twice for the banned anabolic steroid clostebol in March but will not be suspended after the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) concluded the substance entered his system unintentionally through a massage from his physiotherapist. The ITIA accepted Sinner's explanation but stripped him of $325,000 in prize money and 400 ranking points from the Indian Wells tournament. This decision has sparked controversy, with players such as Nick Kyrgios and Denis Shapovalov criticizing the perceived double standards in doping rulings. WADA has not ruled out an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Sinner, who has continued to compete and recently won the Cincinnati Open, expressed his desire to move past the incident and comply with anti-doping regulations in the future.
