Art Exhibitions Showcase Global Talent
Delhi is hosting two significant art events: 'Histories in the Making', showcasing early photographs of Indian monuments from the 1850s and 1860s, and the seventh edition of the Delhi Contemporary Art Week (DCAW), featuring contemporary artworks from leading galleries. 'Histories in the Making' highlights the role of photography in documenting India's history and shaping visual tastes during British colonial rule. DCAW 2023 features works by South Asian artists focusing on themes of cyclical existence, personal history, and sustainability, with notable contributions from artists like Amit Ambalal and Soma Surovi Jannat. Meanwhile, a separate exhibition in Colaba celebrated Indian modern art, featuring pieces from iconic artists including MF Husain. Additionally, New Plymouth artist Jana Branca won the Adam Portraiture Award, with her piece 'Eirene' being showcased in Taranaki.
