Greg Barclay Will Not Seek Third ICC Term

Current ICC chairman Greg Barclay announced he will not seek a third term, ending his tenure on November 30, which has sparked speculation that BCCI secretary Jay Shah may run for the position. The deadline for nominations is August 27, and an election will be held if there is more than one candidate, with the new chairman's term commencing on December 1, 2024. An ICC chairman can serve up to three terms of two years each, and the election now requires a simple majority of nine out of 16 votes. Shah, a prominent figure in cricket administration and head of the ICC's Finance and Commercial Affairs sub-committee, has significant support among voting members. His potential move to ICC will coincide with the end of his term as BCCI secretary, after which he is subject to a mandatory cooling-off period starting in October 2025.
