Delhi High Court Orders Gandhi Leaders to Submit Notes

The Delhi High Court has directed BJP MP Subramanian Swamy and Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to submit written notes regarding the National Herald case within four weeks, with late submissions incurring a penalty of Rs 15,000. This follows Swamy's plea to lead evidence against the Gandhis and others, who are accused of conspiring to misappropriate funds linked to the National Herald newspaper. The court has maintained a stay on proceedings initially issued in February 2021, which is set to continue until the next hearing on October 29. Swamy's accusations include claims that the Gandhis facilitated a fraudulent transfer of funds that allowed Young Indian Limited to recover a substantial debt owed by the Congress party. The Congress leaders are represented by senior advocates R.S. Cheema and Tarannum Cheema in court. The trial court had previously declined Swamy's request to lead evidence, stating that it would consider this after his examination concluded.
