Ban Hyojin Wins Gold in 10m Air Rifle

Sixteen-year-old Ban Hyojin made history by winning the gold medal in the women's 10m air rifle final at the Paris Olympics 2024, becoming the youngest female Olympic shooting sport champion. In a nail-biting finish, Ban narrowly defeated China's Huang Yuting by just 0.1 points after both competitors equaled the Olympic record of 251.8. Despite leading by 1.3 points, Ban faltered with a 9.9 and a 9.6 in her final shots, allowing Huang to catch up and force a shoot-off. In the shoot-off, Ban scored 10.4 while Huang scored 10.3, securing her victory amidst emotional celebrations. This win is significant as it marks the Republic of Korea's first gold in this event since 1992 and their 100th gold overall in Olympic history.
