Salman Khan Expresses Interest in Sholay Remake

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has expressed a strong desire to remake the iconic 1975 film Sholay, originally written by his father Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. During a roundtable discussion with filmmaker Farah Khan and other industry figures, Salman stated he would like to portray both Jai and Veeru, as well as the villain Gabbar, which drew laughter from the panel. Sholay, directed by Ramesh Sippy, features notable actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Hema Malini in key roles. The documentary series Angry Young Men, which chronicles the collaborative journey of Salim and Javed as screenwriters, has reignited interest in their work, including this potential remake. Javed Akhtar reminisced about how many actors, including Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjeev Kumar, had aspirations to play the role of Gabbar during the film's original casting.
