Wisconsin Badgers defensive lineman James Thompson Jr. is expected to miss the entire 2024 season due to an upper-body injury that required surgery. Head coach Luke Fickell expressed doubt about Thompson's return, citing a recovery timeline of four to five months. Thompson, who was the most experienced lineman on the team with 29 tackles last season, has started 18 games over the past two years. This injury significantly impacts Wisconsin's defensive strength as they prepare for their season opener against Western Michigan.
