Nepal's Prime Minister KP Oli has called for enhancing connectivity with India through the development of waterways and railways. During an annual progress review meeting, he directed officials to draft plans for operating steamer services from Hanumannagar to Triveni and Devghat, highlighting the underutilization of existing laws that permit such services. Oli emphasized waterway transport as a cost-effective means for moving goods and people, proposing the establishment of related infrastructure, including a port and customs office. He also called for expanding railway services, suggesting the addition of two lines to the Janakpur-Kurtha railway and the development of an East-West railway line. Meanwhile, in Pakistan, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal is focusing on finalizing connectivity plans with Central Asian states, asserting Pakistan's strategic location as a hub for regional trade. Iqbal stressed the need for actionable proposals to enhance economic integration with Central Asia.
