Pogacar Withdraws from Paris 2024 Olympics

Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar has withdrawn from the Paris 2024 Olympics due to extreme fatigue, as confirmed by the Slovenian Olympic Committee. Despite his recent triumphs, including his third Tour de France title and a Giro d'Italia win, the decision came just a day after securing his latest victory. Pogacar admitted that the exclusion of his girlfriend and double national champion, Urska Zigart, from the Olympic team also influenced his decision. Zigart, who had been expected to qualify given her impressive results, was controversially omitted in favor of other cyclists. Pogacar expressed his disappointment publicly, emphasizing Zigart's contributions to Slovenia’s cycling achievements. He is now expected to focus on the World Championships in Zurich on September 29.
