Jill Ellis Sues Former Videographer for Defamation

San Diego Wave FC President Jill Ellis has filed a defamation lawsuit against former team videographer Brittany Alvarado, following Alvarado's social media allegations of a toxic and abusive work environment under Ellis' leadership. The lawsuit, filed in San Diego Superior Court, claims Alvarado’s statements were false and included a fabricated email. Alvarado accused Ellis of fostering an environment detrimental to employees' mental health and called for her removal from the NWSL. Ellis' suit alleges significant damage to her reputation and seeks an injunction to prevent further defamatory statements. Alvarado's attorney defends her right to highlight gender discrimination and emotional abuse within the organization. A third-party investigation by the NWSL found no violations of law or league policy related to Alvarado’s claims.
