Three Missing in Japan Landslide Amid Typhoon
A landslide triggered by heavy rains from Typhoon Shanshan struck a house in Gamagori, Aichi Prefecture, resulting in two women being rescued while three other family members remain unaccounted for. The incident occurred at around 10:10 p.m. on August 27, with the eldest daughter making an emergency call. The city's fire department rescued one daughter with minor injuries and another in serious condition. Rescue operations continue for the missing parents, both in their 70s, and their son in his 30s. The landslide followed record-breaking rainfall, with the city receiving more than the monthly average for August in just two days. Evacuation orders have been issued to nearby residents due to the ongoing risk of further landslides as the typhoon approaches.
