Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada, a notorious drug kingpin, was reportedly kidnapped by Joaquin Guzman Lopez, the son of his former partner, Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán. According to Zambada's lawyer, he was ambushed near Culiacan, Mexico, by Guzman Lopez and six armed men, forced onto a plane, and taken to the U.S. against his will. Zambada, who pleaded not guilty to drug charges in a Texas court, appeared in a wheelchair due to injuries sustained during the incident. U.S. officials have not confirmed the allegations of kidnapping, stating Guzman Lopez intended to negotiate a plea agreement. The arrests are seen as a significant victory for U.S. law enforcement, given Zambada's influential role in the Sinaloa Cartel, which has been a major player in fentanyl trafficking. Guzman Lopez is expected to appear in court in Chicago, while Zambada's next hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
