Abhishek Singhvi on governor's post

Senior Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi has called for the abolition of the governor's position or the appointment of individuals of high stature by consensus to prevent petty politics, amid rising tensions between governors and opposition-led state governments. He criticized the government for devaluing institutions, claiming that governors often act as second chief executives, complicating governance and decision-making. Singhvi emphasized the need for parliamentary reforms to ensure fairness and impartiality, noting that the opposition's voice must be respected in legislative processes. He highlighted that prolonged conflicts with governors hinder effective governance, urging that if a governor becomes a threat to a chief minister, they should be removed from office. Singhvi's remarks come after being elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Telangana, showcasing his commitment to democratic integrity.
