Two Arrested for Smuggling Tobacco Products
In a recent crackdown on smuggling, Singapore Customs arrested two Bangladeshi men for evading duties on 2,071 cartons of contraband cigarettes, valued at approximately $292,712. The operation revealed that one of the men was an employee of the company using the premises for illegal activities. Similarly, in Coimbatore, India, police apprehended two men for smuggling 338 kg of banned tobacco products hidden under rice bran, with the contraband worth around ₹2.5 lakh. Additionally, two drug peddlers were arrested in Hyderabad while transporting 60 kg of ganja from Andhra Pradesh to Maharashtra, with police seizing the drugs and their vehicle worth ₹35 lakh. The ongoing efforts to combat such illegal activities highlight the enforcement agencies' commitment to curbing smuggling and drug trafficking across borders.
