Syrian Confesses to Solingen Knife Attack
A Syrian man, Issa Al H., has been remanded in custody after confessing to a knife attack at a street festival in Solingen, Germany, which left three dead and eight injured. German prosecutors have charged him with murder and membership in the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, citing his radical Islamic convictions as motivation. The attack, claimed by IS as retaliation for Muslim suffering globally, targeted the necks of the victims, highlighting its brutal nature. The suspect had previously been ordered deported to Bulgaria under EU regulations but went into hiding and was later granted subsidiary protection. This incident has sparked calls for stricter immigration and deportation policies in Germany. The festival, meant to celebrate Solingen's 650th anniversary, was canceled as the community mourned the victims.
