Tim Walz's DUI Record and Crime Policies Under Scrutiny

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, now Kamala Harris's vice-presidential running mate, faces renewed scrutiny over a 1995 DUI arrest in Nebraska. Walz was pulled over for driving 96 mph in a 55-mph zone and registered a blood alcohol level of 0.128%, above the legal limit. He initially faced charges of driving under the influence but pleaded guilty to reckless driving. Walz's handling of the George Floyd protests in 2020 has also drawn mixed reactions; he was both praised for prosecuting the officers involved and criticized for his delayed National Guard deployment. Former President Donald Trump praised Walz's response at the time, although Republicans now attack his record on crime and public safety.
