Prohibitory Orders Imposed in Ranchi Ahead of BJP Rally

Ahead of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha's (BJYM) 'Yuva Aakrosh Rally' in Ranchi, the district administration has imposed prohibitory orders to maintain public order, effective from 11 am to 11 pm on Friday. These orders, enforced under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, ban public gatherings, rallies, and the carrying of weapons within a 500-meter radius of Morabadi Ground. The BJP has condemned these measures as an attempt to silence dissent against the Hemant Soren government, claiming they reflect desperation ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. The administration justified the orders due to concerns about potential disruptions and law and order issues stemming from the rally. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan criticized the government, alleging it was blocking BJYM supporters from reaching the rally site, indicating a tense political atmosphere in Jharkhand.
