Evacuations Ordered as Hurricane Beryl Nears Texas

Tropical Storm Beryl is expected to strengthen into a Category 1 hurricane before making landfall in Texas early Monday. Coastal Texas, including Corpus Christi and Galveston, has issued evacuation orders and is under storm surge warnings, with potential impacts including strong winds, heavy rain, and isolated tornadoes. As Beryl moves inland, it will weaken but still bring heavy rainfall and potential flooding to Arkansas, the Carolinas, and East Texas, and its remnants could travel as far north as Ohio and Michigan. The National Weather Service predicts widespread rainfall, with some areas receiving up to 15 inches. Texas is taking significant precautions, with 121 counties under a state disaster declaration.
