Twenty-seven laborers from Jharkhand, who were stranded in Cameroon, have returned home after facing significant hardships, including non-payment of wages and lack of basic necessities. The workers, who had been employed since March 29, sought assistance through a video message, prompting the Jharkhand Chief Minister to contact the Ministry of External Affairs for help. Upon their arrival at Parasnath Railway Station in Giridih, they were welcomed with garlands and financial aid of Rs 25,000 each. The state government facilitated the payment of around Rs 30 lakh in outstanding wages before their return. Officials noted that continuous follow-up from the government was crucial in ensuring their safe return. This incident highlights ongoing issues faced by migrant workers from Jharkhand, who have previously faced similar predicaments abroad.
