Telangana CM on local body polls

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to expedite preparations for local body elections, emphasizing the need to complete the voter lists within a week after receiving them from the Election Commission of India (ECI). The officials informed Reddy that Telangana is expected to receive its voter list soon, alongside six other states. He has also instructed the Telangana BC Commission to submit its report on reservations for backward classes in local body elections promptly. With the five-year tenure of gram panchayats having ended earlier this year, temporary management is currently in place, making the urgency for elections even more critical. Furthermore, Reddy is pushing for solutions to issues related to the Dharani portal, which manages land records in the state, advocating for comprehensive legislation to address land ownership disputes.
