PR Sreejesh Retires After Paris 2024 Olympics
PR Sreejesh, the legendary Indian hockey goalkeeper, has announced his retirement following India's bronze medal victory over Spain at the Paris Olympics 2024. Sreejesh, who has been a cornerstone of Indian hockey for 18 years, will transition to coaching, taking charge of India's junior national team. His career is celebrated for monumental achievements, including two Olympic bronze medals, numerous Asian Games and Commonwealth Games medals, and consecutive FIH Goalkeeper of the Year awards in 2021 and 2022. India concluded the Paris 2024 Olympics with a total of six medals, highlighted by performances from shooter Manu Bhaker, Swapnil Kusale, Aman Sehrawat, and Neeraj Chopra. Bhaker, along with Sreejesh, were honored as flag bearers for the closing ceremony, marking the end of Sreejesh's illustrious career. The closing ceremony also marked the transition of the Olympic flag from Paris to Los Angeles for the 2028 Games.
