The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office has released body camera footage of a March 2022 shooting involving Deputy Christian Lucente and suspect Lookman-Khalil Abolajo Bello, who attempted to flee from a traffic stop for speeding and suspected DUI. During the pursuit, Bello fired at Deputy Lucente, who returned fire, hitting Bello three times; he later received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. Bello was convicted of attempted murder and sentenced to life plus 15 years in prison. Sheriff Chuck Jenkins highlighted the rapid escalation from a traffic stop to a gunfight and commended Deputy Lucente for providing aid despite the high-stress situation. The footage release follows Bello's trial, which concluded last month. Authorities are also seeking information on a separate shooting suspect from July, urging citizens to contact police with any leads.
