Rahul Gandhi, Kharge to Unveil Kadam Statue

On September 5, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and MP Rahul Gandhi will unveil a statue of the late Patangrao Kadam in Kadegaon, Sangli, coinciding with Teacher's Day. The event will also see attendance from key leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi, including NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray. Kadam, a significant figure in Maharashtra politics who served in various ministerial roles and founded the Bharati Vidyapeeth university, is being honored for his contributions to education and agriculture. Although the event is seen as a tribute, some speculate it may signal the start of Congress's campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections. Vishwajeet Kadam, the late leader's son, indicated that while invitations were extended to other prominent leaders, some may not attend due to prior commitments. The ceremony will be held at the Sonhira Sugar Factory, followed by a political rally featuring the attending leaders.
