Woman Arrested for Attempted Child Kidnap in Santa Monica

Courtney Perrone, a 39-year-old woman, was arrested in Santa Monica after allegedly attempting to kidnap an 8-year-old girl on August 21. The incident occurred when Perrone approached the child while she was assisting a neighbor with pets, claiming to be a Russian police officer. After a struggle ensued between Perrone and the neighbor, who secured the child in his vehicle, Perrone threatened the neighbor with a switchblade before fleeing towards a nearby parking lot. Police later located her standing next to a white BMW, which she reportedly lives out of, and confirmed her history of criminal activity, including multiple arrests for assault and drug possession. Perrone is facing felony charges of attempted kidnapping and false imprisonment, as well as a misdemeanor charge for brandishing a weapon. She is scheduled for arraignment on August 23 and has outstanding warrants from New Hampshire, in addition to being on probation in Nevada.
