Niemann Penalised at LIV Mayakoba, Leads Burmester, Rahm

Joaquin Niemann, initially hitting a record-breaking 12-under 59 at the LIV Golf Mayakoba, has been penalised two shots following an incorrect drop. This adjustment by LIV Golf revised Niemann's score for round two from a 5 to 7 on hole 13. The Chilean, originally leading Patrick Reed, now leads Dean Burmester and Jon Rahm by two into the final round. Niemann's performance still stands as the second sub-60 round in LIV Golf history, after Bryson DeChambeau's 58 in 2023.
