The San Francisco Giants have placed left-handed pitcher Robbie Ray on the 15-day injured list due to a strained left hamstring, retroactive to Monday. Ray exited Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners in the fourth inning after experiencing hamstring tightness. This season, Ray has posted a 3-2 record with a 4.70 ERA in seven starts, totaling 43 strikeouts over 30 2/3 innings. The Giants have recalled right-hander Landen Roupp from Triple-A Sacramento to fill the roster spot. Ray, an 11-year veteran and former AL Cy Young Award winner, joined the Giants this season after being traded from the Mariners. His absence is a significant loss for the Giants' rotation.
