Rameswar Teli, Mission Ranjan Das Elected Unopposed in Assam

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren is set to join the BJP on August 30 due to dissatisfaction with his former party, the JMM. Meanwhile, in Assam, Rameswar Teli and Mission Ranjan Das were elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha following the vacancies created by Sarbananda Sonowal and Kamakhya Prasad Tasa moving to the Lok Sabha. Both candidates expressed gratitude to their party leaders for their support and emphasized their experience in Parliament. Assam's Rajya Sabha now has six seats held by the BJP-led alliance, with Teli being a prominent figure from the tea-tribe community. In a separate statement, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed no Hindus have attempted to enter India from Bangladesh, attributing the influx to Muslims seeking jobs in the textile sector. Sarma urged PM Modi to ensure the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh amid rising violence.
