Dhaka Police Form Citizen Security Committees

The Police Headquarters in Bangladesh has directed the formation of 'Citizen Security Committees' at each police station to enhance public participation in law enforcement and restore order. They will focus on preventing violence, resolving social conflicts, and addressing issues like drug problems and community tensions. Additionally, a six-member committee has been established to expedite the implementation of demands raised by police officers, including compensation for families of deceased officers and improved working conditions. Officers have expressed concerns over their rights, pushing for reforms to the Police Act and more generous leave policies.
