India, Malaysia Sign Multiple Agreements During Visit

India and Malaysia are set to strengthen their economic, defense, and technological ties following Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's visit to India from August 19 to 21, his first since taking office in 2022. The leaders of both countries, PM Narendra Modi and PM Anwar Ibrahim, have signed multiple agreements covering areas such as digital technologies, tourism, and traditional medicine. Both nations aim to elevate their relationship to a 'Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,' with increased cooperation in semiconductors, fintech, defense production, AI, and quantum technology. Additionally, Malaysia seeks Indian investment to boost its digital and green energy sectors, particularly in the electric vehicle industry. The visit also focuses on resolving past trade issues, such as those involving Malaysian palm oil imports, and signing a significant agreement on the recruitment of Indian workers to address concerns over illegal immigration and human trafficking.
