Dallas Officer Killed, Two Wounded in Shootout

A Dallas police officer was killed and two others were wounded during a confrontation with a suspect who later died following a vehicle chase. The incident began shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday when officers responded to assist a wounded colleague found in a squad car. During the exchange of gunfire, one officer was fatally shot, while the others were hospitalized, with one in critical condition. The suspect fled the scene but was pursued to Lewisville, Texas, where he exited his vehicle armed with a long gun and was shot by police. The Dallas Police Department announced an ongoing investigation and stated that flags at city facilities would be flown at half-staff in honor of the fallen officer.
