AIFF to Host Charity Matches for Disaster Relief

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) is organizing two charity football matches to support disaster relief efforts in Kerala and Himachal Pradesh, both of which have been severely impacted by natural disasters. The first match is scheduled for August 30 in Manjeri, Kerala, featuring Kolkata's Mohammedan Sporting Club against a Super League Kerala XI, while the second match is proposed for September 2 in Lucknow. AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey highlighted the importance of sports in providing comfort and unity during such tragedies, urging the community to come together for a 'cup of solidarity.' Kerala is recovering from a massive landslide in Wayanad, and Himachal Pradesh continues to face rain-related floods and landslides, resulting in significant loss of life and disruption. The AIFF is in discussions with additional clubs for the Lucknow match and emphasizes the role of sports in aiding community recovery efforts. Chaubey expressed gratitude for the swift support from Mohammedan Sporting Club in this humanitarian initiative.
