Afghanistan vs South Africa
Cricket South Africa (CSA) and the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) have announced a historic three-match One-Day International (ODI) series between their teams, scheduled from September 18 to 22, 2024, at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE. This will be the first bilateral series between the two nations, marking a significant milestone in their cricketing relations. CSA Chairman Lawson Naidoo expressed excitement about competing against a strong Afghan team, while ACB Chairman Mirwais Ashraf highlighted the productive negotiations that led to this series, which was not initially part of the Future Tours Programme. The matches come after South Africa's victory over Afghanistan in the semi-finals of the recent ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. In addition, the Pakistan U19 team is set to compete in a tri-series against Afghanistan and UAE from November 13 to 26, as part of their preparations for the Asian Cricket Council Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2024, emphasizing the growing cricketing activities in the region.
