Top track and field athletes

The Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association has recognized Beacon High School seniors Rachel Thorne and Henry Reinke for their outstanding academic and athletic achievements. Thorne, an AP Scholar and editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, plans to major in Biology and English at Northeastern University, while Reinke is set to attend Williams College to study biology or environmental studies and continue running track. As the 2024 Olympics approach, nine athletes with New Jersey ties will compete, including civil engineering graduate Mane, who excelled in the men’s triple jump, and McLaughlin-Levrone, the world-record holder in the 400-meter hurdles. Team USA aims to improve its performance after a disappointing showing at the Tokyo Olympics, with notable athletes like sprinter Noah Lyles and shot put champion Ryan Crouser leading the charge. Additionally, sports communities are engaging fans through polls, such as determining the top male athlete of the millennium and the Mount Rushmore of Franklin athletics, showcasing local talent and history.
