Boar's Head Recalls 207,528 Pounds of Deli Meats
Boar's Head Provisions Co. has issued a recall for approximately 207,528 pounds of deli meats, including liverwurst, due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The recall affects products produced on the same line between June 11 and July 17, 2024, and includes items such as Virginia Ham, Italian Cappy Style Ham, Bologna, Beef Salami, and others. This action follows a listeria outbreak that has resulted in 34 illnesses and two deaths across 13 states. Health officials advise consumers to discard or return the affected products and to thoroughly clean refrigerators to prevent cross-contamination. The recall was prompted after a listeria-positive sample of liverwurst was identified in Maryland. Listeria infection can cause serious health risks, particularly for pregnant women, newborns, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals.
