Rhys McClenaghan made history by winning Ireland's first-ever Olympic medal in gymnastics with a gold in the men's pommel horse at the Paris 2024 Olympics. His flawless routine scored 15.533, narrowly edging out Kazakhstan's Nariman Kurbanov, who took silver with 15.434, and the USA's Stephen Nedoroscik, who secured bronze with 15.300. Team GB's Max Whitlock, a two-time defending Olympic champion, finished in fourth place with a score of 15.200 in what was his final Olympic appearance.
